Auburndale Reuse System
Auburndale, Florida
The system provides reclaimed water to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, Florida Polytechnic University, and the Pace Road and Polk Parkway corridors.
ChastainSkillman | DCCM designed this 2-million-gallon pre-stressed concrete tank and pump station at the City of Auburndale’s Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. This tank will receive reclaimed water from the City’s two wastewater treatment facilities, where it will be blended and pumped into a new reuse distribution system.
The pump station consists of two 1,000 gpm main pumps and a 350 gpm jockey pump. The pumps operate on variable speed drives to provide consistent pressure to the reuse distribution system. The system will provide reclaimed water to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, Florida Polytechnic University, and the Pace Road and Polk Parkway corridors.
The tank is located in a highly visible location adjacent to eight collegiate baseball fields. Because of its high profile, the tank features sports-related artwork to serve as a backdrop for awards presentation ceremonies. The tank is coated with an anti-graffiti paint. Due to the tank’s unique artwork, it was entered into Tnemec Coatings’ “Tank of the Year” contest.
