Auburndale Reuse System
Auburndale, Florida
ChastainSkillman | DCCM partnered with the City of Auburndale to design a 2-million-gallon pre-stressed concrete reclaimed water storage tank and pump station at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. This facility plays a key role in the City’s reclaimed water distribution system, receiving flow from two wastewater treatment plants, blending it, and distributing it to key service areas.
Our team provided the following services:
Civil Engineering Design
- Designed a 2 MG pre-stressed concrete tank to store reclaimed water
- Engineered a pump station featuring:
- Two 1,000 gallons-per-minute (gpm) main pumps
- One 350 gpm jockey pump
- Variable speed drives to maintain consistent system pressure
Reclaimed Water Distribution
- Developed a system to deliver reclaimed water to:
- Lake Myrtle Sports Complex
- Florida Polytechnic University
- Pace Road and Polk Parkway corridors
Aesthetic & Community Considerations
- Designed the tank with sports-themed artwork to complement its location adjacent to eight collegiate baseball fields
- Applied anti-graffiti coating for long-term durability and maintenance
- The tank’s unique design was submitted to Tnemec Coatings’ “Tank of the Year” contest
This project supports sustainable water reuse in the region while enhancing the visual identity of a high-profile recreational facility.
